her birthday actually IS October 10th... she lied there to screw with Kogoro and see if he actually remembered when it was.

that was a seriously STUPID mistake on Kogoro's part.

1 do your research. somewhere, somehow, in some file, you've got a copy of her birth-certificate, or some proof you know for certain will show you her birthday. old driver's license. something.

2 you drop $391.60 aka 50k Yen on a birthday present for your wife... then FORGET which box it is in because the prayer beads and her necklace are in similar shaped boxes, with the same wrapping paper, but different colored bows and ribbons. no. bleeping. way. i drop over three benjy franklins... i'm in full on panic-attack mode... it would take me nigh on a YEAR to save up that much spare scratch. that's three MONTHS worth of groceries for me. i'd be eating grass out of my yard, ramen noodles, and looking at the squirrels playing in the trees quite hungrily, over just that necklace. there's no. bleeping. way. i would mistake those two boxes.

3 give her the present on her birthday and don't act like an ass! don't get drunk. don't pass out atop the dinner table. don't insult her, her cooking, her clothing. don't call her an old hag or old lady or old anything.

these two episodes just prove that Kogoro is a barely functioning moron, who needs to be confined to a mental institution so he can be cared for by professionals, or a nursing home. how the hell did he ever make it as a patrol cop, or even get promoted into the detective division if he is this stupid?

At this point, I don't know who I would rather see together: Mouri and Eri or Shinichi and Ran.
